On Thursday night, my youngest daughter told me I had to accompany her to a parent meeting at school and that it was important for me to attend. When we woke up early on Friday morning, my wife told me she hadn't slept well and couldn't join us, which surprised me because she never misses any of these meetings. Upon arriving at the school, I immediately realized it had all been a trick.

El jueves por la noche mi hija menor me dijo que debía acompañarle al colegio a una reunión de padres y que era importante que yo asistiera. Al levantarnos el viernes temprano por la mañana mi esposa me dijo que no durmió bien y que no podría acompañarnos, lo cual me extraño porque ella nunca se pierde ninguna de estas reuniones. Al llegar al colegio de inmediato me di cuenta que todo había sido un engaño.
I was very surprised that my little one kept the secret so well. She can't lie; she always gives herself away with a smile, but this time she held firm to make me come to the supposed "meeting." In reality, it was nothing more than a small gift they wanted to give to the parents, as the first tribute of what the school teachers called "Dad's Month," where every week there would be a small gift or activity for fathers.
Me sorprendió mucho que mi pequeña guardara el secreto tan bien, ella no sabe mentir siempre se descubre con una sonrisa, pero esta vez se mantuvo firme para hacerme venir a la supuesta "reunión", pero en realidad no era mas que un pequeño presente que deseaban entregar a los padres, como primer agasajo de lo que las maestras del colegio llamaron el mes de papá, donde todos las semanas tendran un pequeño presente una actividad para los padres.
This time, it was the usual photo with my daughter in a space they had set up, and two very simple gifts: a letter written by them in their own words and a keychain with a photo of us both. The words in the little letter surprised me greatly. It said: "Happy Father's Day, I love you very much, Dad, you always help me achieve my goals, I love you, Dad, with your hand I can achieve everything, you taught me the value of life, you taught me not to give up."
Esta vez se trató de la acostumbrada foto junto a mi hija en un espacio que ellas acondicionaron y dos regalitos muy sencillo, una carta hecha por ellos con sus palabras y un llavero con una foto de los dos. Me sorprendieron muchas las palabras de la cartica, dice: Felíz día papá, te quiero mucho papá, siempre me acompañas a lograr mis metas, te amo papá, de tu mano puedo lograr todo, me enseñaste el valor de la vida, me enseñaste a no rendirme.
I asked the teacher if she had dictated those words, but she told me it was a classroom activity for them to think very carefully about what they would write to their dads. For those who don't know, my daughter is autistic, and these things are not very common, so this is one of the best Father's Day gifts I have received so far.
Le pregunté a la maestra si esas palabras ella se las había dictado, pero me dijo que fue una actividad en el salón de clase para que pensaran muy bien en lo que le escribirían a sus papás. Para quienes no lo saben, mi niña es autista y estas cosas no son muy comunes, así que este es uno de los mejores regalos del dia del padre que he recibido hasta ahora.
