The Ruleset

image.png

  • Rulesets - Need for Speed & Back to Basics
  • Mana Cap - 30
  • Active Elements - image.png image.png

image.png

Here's my starting lineup

Summoner: Kelya Frendul

Image from thread

  • With the ruleset and element pick that I got the summoner pick was a bit tricky at first but when I figured out that there is not one single good summoner to play here I just picked one
  • And the one was Kelya Frendul mainly because of his +1 speed and of the water element as I had best low mana magic monsters there
  • The +1 armor was nice but not the best for this battle as Back To Basics was active my enemy was surly going to play magic monsters who attack past armor anyway

1st Position: Halfling Refugee

image.png

  • Halfling Refugee was the my first tank for this battle
  • Main reason I like Halfling Refugee here a lot is that Back To Basics cancels his ability which would hurt my team anyway
  • Secondly because Halfling Refugee comes with a self killing ability he has amazing stats for mana cost
  • Weary - At the beginning of round 1, Weary units have a 10% chance to become Exhausted. This chance increases by 10% every round, up to a maximum of 80%. Exhausted units skip their turn and cannot Retaliate

2nd Position: Giant Alpine Skink

image.png

  • Giant Alpine Skink was my second tank for this team
  • One reason I played to melee monsters was that I ran out of magic monsters to play and the second reason was that for 8 mana second melee monster would almost always be better than magic monster in my rank
  • Shield - 50% less damage (rounded up) from physical attacks or 0 damage from physical attacks of 1 power

3rd Position: Venari Wavesmith

Image from thread

  • Venari Wavesmith was my first magic monster for this team
  • Sadly again another great ability goes to waist for this battle but what so does my enemies so its okei
  • Protect - +2 armor to all allied units

4th Position: Magi Sphinx

Image from thread

  • Next up in line is one lovely beta magic monster
  • Because of his level there was no ability to go into waist so pure stats on this guy

5th Position: Shock Trooper

image.png

  • Shock Trooper was here for the same reason as Halfling Refugee
  • As he is also a self harming monster he has amazing stats for his cost
  • And also because of Back To Basics the harmful ability was inactive
  • Electrified - Deals 1 damage to all allied Units at the beginning of each round

6th Position: Pirate Captain

Image from thread

  • For last but not least is my single ranged monster for this team
  • Mainly picked him because I only had 3 mana left and only ranged monsters left to play
  • But I was fine with it as he at least has 2 damage which is better than 1
  • Snipe - Magic and ranged attacks target the first non-melee enemy unit behind the first position

Starting board

image.png

  • Already after seeing the starting board I was confident I would win because my summoner and team was higher level and also I just had much more damage
  • But my predictions could still be off by a mile so lets start up the battle and have a look

image.png

Here's how the battle went

1st Round

image.png

  • After first round the board was still looking quite the same as in the start
  • My enemy had lost his first tank and almost his second one too
  • Meanwhile even tho I had not lost a single monster yet my first melee monster was at 1 hp and was going to fall in the next round
  • Even tho everything was going great so far, anything could still happen so lets keep watching

2nd Round

image.png

  • After 2nd Round the faith of the battle was confirmed to me
  • I managed to take down almost two monsters while losing only my 1hp tank
  • Lets still keep watching even tho the battle is 100% over

3rd Round

image.png

  • The 3rd round was huge for me I managed to take down one of his magic monsters and also his first ranged monster which only left him with two low hp monsters
  • If my attack turn calculation is correct the next round should be the last and then I can welcome my victory screen

4th Round

image.png

  • It took me all 3 magic attacks to kill my enemies last standing monsters
  • After his Igor Darkspear and Mischievous Mermaid had fallen I took the victory
  • Battle Replay Link

Summary

  • This battle was definitely heavily one sided but still fun to watch
  • The strategy to take away from this battle in my opinion is to play as many self harmful monsters as you can in battles were Back To Basics is active
