Yk and Jael are the kind of friends that, once you meet them, you just don’t want to stop seeing them. I have a curious story with Yk. At the last performance of the dance piece where we met and learned to improvise together, we were getting ready in the dressing room, and she stepped into a hallway to do her makeup. Since I’m a restless person, I randomly found her and decided to keep her company, just because I felt like it.
Yk y Jael son de esas amigas que, una vez conoces, no quieres dejar de ver. Tengo una historia curiosa con Yk. En la última presentación que tuvimos de la obra de danza-performance donde la conocí y ambos aprendimos a improvisar, estábamos alistándonos en los vestidores para salir, y Yk se apartó a un pasillo a maquillarse. Como soy inquieto, terminé encontrándola de forma aleatoria y decidí acompañarla porque así lo sentí.
While we were talking, she revealed she was feeling really nervous and shaken up about performing that day because her parents were going to be in the audience. Part of the work we were showing dealt with our personal traumas—and, of course, some of hers involved her parents. So I offered her my support and presence. She felt accompanied enough to cry, and of course, I gave her all my love and encouragement.
Hablando en ese momento con ella, me reveló que se sentía muy nerviosa y movida por presentarse ese día debido a que iban a estar sus padres, y parte del trabajo que hicimos era acerca de nuestros traumas, y obviamente algunos de ellos involucraban a sus padres. Así que le di mi apoyo y compañía, y se sintió lo suficientemente acompañada como para llorar. Por supuesto, le di mi total apoyo.
That event, along with many other moments we shared in that journey of self-discovery—which it really was for most of us—deepened the friendship that Yk and I had already started to build. I only approached her because I felt she needed company, and my intuition didn’t fail.
Ese evento, aparte de las muchas otras vivencias que compartimos en ese viaje de descubrimiento (que fue para la mayoría de los que participamos allí), hizo que entre Yk y yo naciera una amistad más profunda de la que ya habíamos construido. Yo solo me acerqué a ella porque creí que necesitaba compañía, y mi intuición no falló.
Most of the people I connect with on that kind of level share that same quality—my gut and feelings lead me to them. Even though I haven’t known her as long as I’ve known others, Yk is one of the people I love most right now. And that magical moment will always be ours.
Gran parte de las personas con las que me conecto de esa forma comparten esa característica, donde mi sentir e intuición me llevan a estar con ellos. Sin conocerla desde hace tanto tiempo como a otras personas, Yk es de las personas que más quiero en mi actualidad. Y ese momento mágico es y siempre será nuestro.
