Eve Online is known for its on-the-edge-of-your-seat moments. It’s just nice to chill back and do some easy activities as well. I decided since I've been gone from the game for so long to further check out what the AIR Career Program offered.
One of my all-time favorite ships has to be the Punisher and it’s T2 variant. With it being a T1 frigate it’s also rather cheap. Sure, I've put a bunch of T2 modules on it bumping up its price by quite a bit.
I decided I still wanted to have some cheap fun on Eve while also checking out some of the new-to-me stuff. So, it was time to head back yet again to the starting career agents. This time I was going to put a focus on Enforcer.
With my Punisher in I expected to do the agent missions and a few other things for that career path rather quickly. While other things like Abyssal Deadspace, Epic Arc, and earning Loyalty Points I'd focus on doing at a later time.
The first thing first was to be sent out to take out some Blood Raiders. You would think with how bad my standing is already with that faction I'd be given an automatic pass on such a mission.
My main reason for working on these career paths is to see the new player experience. Along with earning a little bit of Skill Points that they reward. A lot of the stuff I was about to do would end up yielding me really basic T1 models and ammo.
This stuff is all great for those starting. They are however quite low value so not something I put much attention into when looking over the missions. If I have room in my ship to carry it all somewhere to sell afterward that's great. If not I'll just be leaving it behind and perhaps when I come back to work on other missions for some odd reason I'll not be in my pusher or a better ship.
I flew out to the first mission and as I'd expect I more or less instant popped the hostiles the moment I target locked onto them. The game was kind enough to highlight what I should be attacking on the overview and even gave a few little tips.
While I'm far beyond needing such basic refreshes. In a game like this, I find it more enjoyable to take your time getting back into the swing of things. It’s kind of nice to see everything I've missed from my long break.
One thing I've been rather loving so far has been tracking missions and how they display in the UI. You can see on the left-hand side under opportunities it’s displaying the next step I needed to take in the mission.
While it’s not a huge deal. It is a nice quality of change they have added over the years. This makes running missions in general just a little quicker to do. No more having to open up a mission if I've been on a long grind and forgotten what I needed to do. It’s just right there in a handy little spot.
Next up I was sent out to take out some further pirates. I was given a mission to save some civilians. The fun part was the mission reward of getting a little ship. The Executioner is a speedy little ship that I used to get into all kinds of trouble back in the day. While I won’t be using it for the next few missions going forward. It’s nice to see they are giving the new players another ship to play around with.
After a couple of these go out and kill pirate style of missions. I got some weapons, the ship, an afterburner, and some other things. Nothing I needed as the Punisher I was already rocking murder everything it touched in these missions. It was however quite a relaxing and as carefree as someone can be if they choose to undock in Eve Online.
The game was slowly introducing the idea of dealing with multiple targets. Using accelerates gates to get into a mission dead area space. Along with even having to destroy certain structures while out on the different sites.
It was kind of nice to see the game run the player through some of the basic mission types. I even had to go a system over and do a delivery mission. Thankfully the amount of goods I had to move was quite small. So, any ship was good enough.
Transportation missions are rather rare for me to do. Any types of missions I tend to do are from security mission agents. Those PvE combat. Transporation missions can get rather annoying with how large of a cargo hold you need. It’s great those kinds of missions are out there for those who enjoy moving goods around. That is just not my thing.
The last mission I needed to run they gave a punisher as the reward. They even had some warning red text. I always check such warnings. Just to make sure I was not about to embark on a mission that the player is supposed to get blown up on. Thankfully it was not. There was just a general warning about warping out if you are low on shields or armor depending on the type of tanking your ship is.
This final mission had a couple of pockets to clear out. While from the warning one would expect it to be a harder mission. My ship was so over geared I more or less killed any pirates that moved before I took any damage.
At the very least the last mission had a rather large explosion at the end of it once I finished the last objective. It was the one seen in the cover screenshot for this post. This game sure loves to give the player some big booms on the screen from time to time. I rather enjoyed the fireworks.
Final Thoughts
The total of ten missions were quite easy and relaxing to do. Even if I was in a starting ship with basic modules I know these missions are made to be quite easy. I collected all my rewards and AIR Career points before moving on to other things.
I decided to fly back to where I put my explore ship and go out to scan down some further exploration sites. At some point, I'm sure I'll be jumping into wormholes, null, and getting some ships blown up from exploring around. For now, I'm enjoying being lazy even if the rewards are not that great.
