Today I'd like to show you the rest of the photos I took at the textile exhibition, as I know a few of you are fan of this type of art. When I started posting about art, I've never imagined my posts could motivate readers/artists, to start creating or give ideas to them, but it's happening and I'm really glad to know that I could contribute to their success this way. So let's see what I want to show you today.
The photos are from the annual textile and fiber exhibition organized in my city, where there are around 70 artists exhibiting. You can imagine the variety of artworks you can see here. Feel free to check out my previous posts here, here and here.
Ana Doru - Ascension
At first glance, my first thought was this is South America, but it was not. It's a wing.
Corina Buzila - Recif - Millennium III.
This piece caught my eye immediately, partly for the color combination the artist used, and partly because of the materials used.
There's a bunch of colorful fabrics, lace, you name it, which can symbolize the colorful life we have (some, not all) and there are two chips as well, which I'm sure refers to digitization. The idea is brilliant and the execution is just the same. Art at the highest level.
Zoe Vida Porumb - Solaris
Being about textile art, the question I always have in mind is how it is made. You can use stitches, you can use glue or you name it, but still, the method used defines the quality of the work in my eyes.
As far as I can tell, this is made by sewing machine and if you have a bit of experience with sewing machines and look at the photo above to see how detailed it is and how small those little people are, you can appreciate the level of difficulty and skills needed here.
I was speechless honestly. All I could think of how would I do it and how much time it would take me. You don't want to know the answer.
I love how the artist did not focus on perfection, it makes the whole artwork more original.
Krisztina Molnár - Akinek nem inge, ne vegye magára
I had to write the Hungarian title, because this is a saying and I have to explain it to you. The saying means, if it's not your shirt, don't put it on, and it means, if it doesn't' apply to you, or if it is not about you, don't put it on or don't take it upon yourself.
This is hand painted with textile marker, or drawn if you like.
I don't know about you, but I love it.
I was wondering, if the artist had a sketch, a draft before she started drawing on the shirt, or she just had an idea about what she wanted and went with the flow? The truth is, you can have a plan, but to create the same drawing and keep the proportions is quite impossible.
This part really made me think. If you live in Europe, close to the Ukrainian border, you feel the meaning of the objects and the words differently. I don't want to get into details as the post is not about this, but ... it's meaningful.
Alexandra Andreea Vatra - Take the sewing soul of tradition
For those of you who are not familiar with the culture, this is a traditional Romanian shirt, part of the folk wear.
Victor Gingiu - Histrionica
The gentleman who has created the above artwork is an university lecturer. Shocking, isn't it? You would think textile artists are all women as they know how to handle textile, but as art had no boundaries and curiosity and talent can take you literally anywhere, here we are, we have the first gentleman with an extraordinary artwork. I love the style, It's unique. Look at how nicely the person on the canvas is flowing.
Ilona Sajgó - The Model
There was no need to look at the artist's name as I recognized the style right away. A couple of months ago I saw a solo exhibition of Ilona Sajgó, an absolutely amazing exhibition and I still have photos to post. I remember this one and so many other lovely pieces. The lady is a very talented artist.
Look at how carefully those fabrics have been selected and all is hand stitched.
Simona Natalia Udrea - The Enchanted Apple
Without being an expert, I suppose this is felting.
It's an interesting representation of the idea and the colors are perfect in my eyes.
