Since I've moved house in August last year, the local community in the area I've found myself in is great. One of the members wanted to know if there was a photographer in the estate, and I put my hand up.

They were doing a renewal of their vows, and celebrating ten years as a married couple. They wanted a photographer for a few hours, I sent them my folio, and they accepted my proposal and rates.

What follows are some of the small details of the event, which I enjoyed, as the low light allowed me to use my 85mm f/1.2 to its max potential!

Here are some of my favourite images from the event, showing off how even when you have limited light, you can pull off some great shots if you have confidence in pushing the ISO and nailing your focus.

The soft focus on the sheer fabric in the background leading in as a compositional element. Nothing is really, truly in focus, but I love the composition and the colour depth. This low key image was pretty much the status quo for the lighting of this event.

Following the vows. No confetti, but bubbles instead.

And the cake. Delicious bokeh.

I absolutely love this last shot. Shot through the garland / voil that was part of the arbor, the way the bloke's foot is posed, the off-centre framing, the speech on the floor, the tones and the depth of the focus with layers in the image.

I had a result in mind when I was composing, but I'm more than pleased with the output. The floor's leading lines also help with the composition.

Images shot in Adelaide, South Australia. Used my 24-70 f/2.8, which was on my Nikon Z6, and my favourite 85 f/1.2 lens, on my Z5. Focusing in the low light was a bit of an issue.

I also used my Speed lights throughout the event in order to give me a bit more light, but as there was a videographer working as well, I tried to minimise my use of flash so as to not cause issues with their footage.

Thanks for getting this far and taking a look. This is a little different to my normal work, but it can pay some of the bills!
